Sally’s new looks

December 9th, 2008

Long Tall Sally profile

Having circumnavigated the African continent on board Sally Lightfoot, Edo Ankum and his young family have resettled on ‘terra firma’. Edo is currently planning new sailingadventures. In joint cooperation with several co-owners, Long Tall Sally, an expedition sailing yacht is being developped. Thirtythree meters over all, the aluminium ketch will sail to and visit destinations well off the beaten track with her crew and owners, or with 12 passengers. Kamtsjatka, Antarctica, Greenland,  the Northwest Passage and the Galapagos archipelago are one of the many remote and adventurous destinations on the yachts itinerary.

But the yacht will be more than just another adventurous cruising vehicle. She will host scientific missions as well as camerateams. Long Tall Sally is currently being designed by worldfamous Gerry Dijkstra and his naval design team. A mix of a no nonsense workboat exterior and a modern and comfortable interior, produce a spectacular yacht. Generous saildimensions and a waterline of 30 meters guarantee a cruising speed of at least 10 knots. Construction is scheduled to start late 2009.
